Happy Thanksgiving!

Hello and happy Thanksgiving!

Christmas is just around the corner. 🌲The temple ground workers are
continuing to put up more and more of the Christmas decorations.
(They've been working on the lights since before I got to Temple
Square). I had no idea they put up a life-sized nativity set! It looks
so real... :)

This week I've been able to get to know my companion really well.
Sister Aquino is amazing! She's so down to earth and she is ALWAYS
looking for ways to help others. The guests, investigators, other
missionaries, and me. That's all she does every waking moment! She
inspires me to be to be better. She is actually the district leader,
so I get to help her with some of the responsibilities. One crazy fact
about her is that she talks in her sleep. Thankfully I'm not a super
light sleeper, haha.

So much happens in one week, I can't possibly share all of it. We had
an awesome experience where we met a guest randomly on the square and
took her on a mini tour. We took her to the Book of Mormon exhibit and
she referred at the end! We're calling her later this week to help her
further. We have hope that she will continue to learn and progress in
the gospel.

With the change in the church handbook we've had a couple of really
rude chats. They just don't understand the change and they think we
are denying children blessings. It's a little frustrating. It's really
good to learn how to react to these people though. It helps me feel
stronger in what I believe and that I don't need to be fearful of
them. For example, we were walking along the light rail stop to get on
the train when we walked passed a woman who was glaring at us. We just
smiled and said hello. It really is a blessing to have opposition.
Satan is real and he is doing all he can to spread lies about the
church. But God is stronger and it will all work out in the end.

I am loving the Beehive house! There is such a special spirit there.
The history is so interesting--for the most part, haha. Brigham Young
was an amazing father and husband, prophet, and governor. I don't know
how he managed all of his different responsibilities. Well, I guess I
do. It's because God was at the center of his life! But he was a busy
man. One thing that touches me is if one of his kids didn't show up
for nightly prayer and scripture study, he would write them a
handwritten letter saying that he missed them and wanted to see them
the next night. Amidst all of his responsibilities he took the time to
let his kids know he cared. He was so thoughtful!

I get to see the Savior of the World production tomorrow! I've never
seen it before, but I know that it will be amazing. We had the actress
who plays Mary visit us for Relief Society. She shared her experience
playing Mary and the things she's been able to learn and apply to her
own life. There's a song she sings when she is wondering if it really
is the right thing to marry Joseph and Mary's mother says something
like, it's good to wonder a little but we never need to wonder about
the Lord. I take away from this phrase that it's okay to have
questions, but we never need to question the Lord and His will. The
spirit was so strong when she bore her testimony. I'm so grateful I
get to attend this production!

Well, that's all for now folks!

Happy Birthday to Angela this week! Eat lots of turkey!

I love you all!

oxoxox,
Sister Butler
