Happy New Year and Happy Birthday, Mom!

The young girl in the middle of this photo is the famous Lexi Walker. Alisha somehow didn't recognize her until after she left with her family and someone told her who she was! Alisha said she had kept asking her to stay and sing more songs with them as she had such a beautiful voice! (Just google Lexi Walker on Youtube if you haven't heard her sing!)

Alisha took this photo of us with her iPad during our Christmas Skype call!

Dear Family and Friends,

Thank you for the letters mom and dad! They made my night!

It was so fun skyping with all of you, but it went by way too fast. Spencer's voice is so deep! Madelyn is walking! Kids change so fast! Please stop changing! :) I showed a sister from China a picture I took during our skype session and she was like, "Wow, that's your family?! It's so big!" Haha! Yes, the bigger the better!

So after I finished skyping with you guys I went over to a Theater in the North Visitors' center where we had a Christmas program for our meeting. It consisted of alternating between short lines a sister would quote and musical numbers. It ended with President and Sister Poulsen reciting the first few lines of the Living Christ document and then other sisters in the audience would stand and take turns saying a line. The Spirit was so strong during the whole program. There is nothing like a whole bunch of missionaries gathered together celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ! It was a Christmas I'll never forget!

On Christmas day we received many sweet gifts from various people. The charitable gift givers included the Joseph Smith Memorial Staff (stockings with practical and fun items such as shampoo, tooth brush, tooth paste, and candy etc.), Sheri Dew (mormon tabernacle CD), Senior couples, and some local ward members. We are so loved here! I felt so spoiled that day!

A couple of days ago I saw a whole lot of the Hale family--and also Amanda. :) It was so fun seeing all of them! I was able to take them through the God's Plan for His Family presentation! It was so special! It was fun hearing some of their testimonies! I have the best family! I love them all!

Well, I think this is it for this week! I love you! Here's to the new year! I would love to hear some of your goals for this year! On a side note, my companion keeps on shouting at guests as we're walking in the Square to "read the Book of Mormon!!!!!" So there's an idea for you! :)

Sister Butler

  1. This is exciting! I love reading your letters each week, Sister Butler! We were there, on the Square, December 30, the night after we dropped Sestra Cyrier off at the MTC. We walked around and in and out all of the buildings for at least an hour but we were unable to find you. :( I suppose it wasn't the Lord's will for us to give you a quick hug. We're happy that you are enjoying your mission and know that you are a light to all of those who encounter you! Keep up your amazing work! Love you!!!
