My P-day (Preparation Day) is on Friday Now

All photo credits go to Marlo Oliveros Lopez. It appears he and Sister Lopez have a much better camera than Alisha! :-) They also posted a great deal more photos than Alisha has sent due to her busy schedule!

Hey, so I forgot to tell you that my p-day is switching to Friday for
the next 7 weeks. So I get to write you all again!

My new companion is sister Chamberlin and she is from Southern
California. She is the second to youngest of 6 kids. She went to BYU
and majored in Family Life-Human Development. She is very open, very
caring, and has a strong testimony of the restored gospel. I know I
will learn a lot from her this transfer.

These past two days we've had Relief Society twice. A president of the
seventy, Elder Lynn G. Robbins, came to speak to us today and
yesterday Michael Wilcox came (You probably don't know who he is, but
he is a great teacher).

This morning Elder Robbins focused mostly on the attributes of Christ.
He referred to these attributes as the most magnificent courses of
life. He said that no college has virtue 101 or patience 505, but they
are courses we need to be constantly applying to our life. Along with
the topic of refining ourselves, he noted that companions help refine
us. Whether that be husband and wife or missionary companions. He said
it's almost certain that if you can't learn how to get along with your
missionary companion you will have difficulty getting along with your
future spouse. So he said to pray you get put with a difficult
companion so you can better develop Christlike attributes. Haha...😐

Brother Wilcox spent the better part of an hour telling us the story
from the Book of Mormon about the people who were going to be put to
death for believing in the signs of Jesus' coming. We've all heard this
story many times, but wow, he made it come alive. He said the first
thing you need to do when reading the scriptures--besides pray 😄--is
to put yourself into the story. Know the historical background,
society, and setting of the story. BE THERE WITH THE PEOPLE. I wish
you could have been there to hear the way he taught. I wish I had time
to relate to you all I learned. Remind me to share some of his
insights during our skype session! In conclusion of his lesson he
said, "The story is told so subtlety we miss it if we don't read
between the lines." I think that is true for many stories contained in
the Book of Mormon. Dig deeper and you will find gems and rubies.

I love you all! I hope you have a Merry Christmas!!! I will see you
face to face (literally!) next week!

Xoxo,
Sister Butler
