Snow Storm and Transfer Conference!

The Assembly Hall is where we often hold transfer conference. [Photo credit Marlo Oliveros Lopez]

Hello my friends and family!

We have so much snow right now! It snowed the previous night and all day yesterday. I think we got 15 inches or something! If you want some snow let me know and I'll try to ship you a package; we have plenty to spare. ;) [Her little brothers REALLY wish she COULD send them some snow! ~K]

Well, this week has been filled with changes. Yesterday was transfer conference so I got a new place to live, a new assignment, and a new companion. Before each transfer begins we have a "moving day". So from 8:30-9:30am this morning I moved out from my old apartment and into the new. You can imagine how crazy it was in the SNOW. It is generally crazy without the snow, but it always works out. My new assignment(s) is to work in Guest Services (people call in to make appointments for tours, missionaries call in to make appointments for investigator lessons etc. and we help them), and I have another assignment to serve as the Choir Coordinator, which means I organize the choir that sings right after Music and the Spoken Word gets out. So I will pick out songs and head up the practices for the choir. I'm excited! My new companion this transfer is Sister Chamberlin! She is from America...and that's all I really know. So I will tell you more about her next week.

Here is how transfer conference plays out. We usually meet in the Assembly Hall at 7:45. President and Sister Poulsen address us and then the sisters who are going home bear a short testimony and give us some advice. There are a lot of tears and the spirit is always present. One sister's testimony really stuck out to me. The main idea was that she has come to feel of Heavenly Father's great love for her. From what I've observed in her is that each person she talks to, love glows from her face. The way she talks you can't help but feel how much she cares. She is like that to every friend and stranger I've seen her interact with. I know that is because she truly has come to know the Savior. She inspires me to be better! When you love others, you naturally want to share the gospel with them.

I feel like I have grown a lot this transfer. I know God loves me and He wants me to be happy and successful. Even though I fall short, He forgives me and helps me. I know He is there and that he hears my prayers. This is true for all of us! Here is to another transfer; another season to learn and grow and stretch myself.

Sorry that this is another short letter. I will have more time to write when Christmas is gone! I love you!

Sister Butler

P.S. Line of the week:
I hope this will give you a good laugh. This is something a sister shared in her last testimony before she returned home. She said this was advice her father gave to her at the airport as he was dropping her off to go on her mission.
"If you fall in a river there's a boat, if you fall in a well there's a rope, but if you fall in love there is no hope."
