Had a fun time hanging out with my district last Monday! We had some great food and watched "Emma Smith: My Story". |
Hello family!
You sure had a busy week! I hope you find time to rest up.
I have a miracle! A lady called into Mormon.org several months ago wanting to have missionaries come meet with her less active grandson who had a desire to get back to church. Well, she met with the missionaries too and now she's on date for June 28th! We lost contact and then I decided to call her up this past week. She has a cool story. She has always believed in God and she is an avid reader of the Bible. She has seen His hand through out her life. I had a thought to ask her about what she thinks about having modern prophets today. She said that she always knew that there have been modern prophets, God wouldn't leave us alone! She just didn't know where to find them. Now she found them! She is awesome!
This week has kind of been a blur. They days seem to blend together. This past Saturday we took a motor coach tour (which means we took a large group tour, 30-40 people traveling around Utah or the country). At the end of the tour the people asked tons of questions. Questions about women and the priesthood, how many children are in our families (haha), what is our belief about how we attain salvation....random somewhat difficult questions. So the point I'm making is we were off topic from the heart of our message: the restoration! A member sat in on the group tour and he threw out a question, "How do you know God calls prophets today?" The Spirit hit and we were able to share our conversion stories and testify. At the end a woman referred and asked for a Book of Mormon! Yay! Yes, it was only 1 out of 35 people, but I know they all felt something they will remember.
Something that has been on my mind lately is how missionaries can sometimes think they know a lot when they've been out on their mission for a while. I hope I never fall into that rut. It's true that we know more than we ever did before our mission, but we still have leaps and bounds to learn during and after the mission. Just a random thought! :)
We got to go to Music and the Spoken Word yesterday and it was the BOMB! They did a special program for Labor Day. Ahh. It was so good. I always feel like I'm tasting a little bit of heaven when I listen to them.
Thanks for your letters! I love them!
xoxox,
Sister Butler
