I'm sad to say but I have some unfortunate news. My companion went
home this past Thursday due to health concerns. My heart goes out to
all the missionaries who have had to return early. It is a really hard
thing to go through. The more I experience challenges the more I think
about how not only has the Savior felt what I've felt but he's felt
the pain and anguish of the world. It's incomprehensible to me. I know
he loves and knows how to give us the help we need.
There is a new transfer in about one week, but until them I am in a
trio with the Spanish-speaking sisters. It's been really fun learning
some Spanish by singing the hymns and greeting people in Spanish. The
hermanas had a baptism this past Saturday and I got to help them to
clean the baptismal font and fill it with water. I felt the Spirit
just by getting to do that. A mother and her 13 year old daughter were
baptized and they looked so happy and at peace after. I'm so thankful
that I got to be a part of that.
A tender mercy for me this week was having an investigator come to
church on Sunday. She was introduced by her member friend. She is
Korean and is a hairdresser, I talked about her a couple weeks ago. We
have a Korean member here who befriended her and gave her the Book of
Mormon on CD in Korean to listen to. I asked her if she believes it's
true and she said yes. She is from a family that is strong Catholic
but I'm having faith that the Lord will keep on opening doors for her
to continue to learn.
I've been following Stacey Johnson's letters about the new law in
Russia. Wow, I'm astounded by how much it affects the work out there.
I love her attitude about it though. No unhallowed hand can stop the
work from progressing! No doubt the Lord has many miracles in store!
Happy Birthday to Kristine and Caleb this week! I'm so glad you both
were born! Hugs and kisses to you!

Sister Butler
